The Gospels

For many the bible holds a place of reverance. A book of lofty morals and a guide for how to please the divine.

But for many afab and queer folks it is also a tool of oppression. It's pages used to force people into cages and bind them under the threat of hell. Its stories twisted to keep people trapped within the fold. Their true selves forced into hiding lest god become angry.

Let women learn in silence...

Words used by men to try and force Zanna into submission. But such was not to be her fate. She was destined for freedom and a life filled with joy and color.

Zanna's story is not an issolated incident

More stories deserve to be told. And with this project I hope to tell some of those stories. Stories of pain and betrayal, control, internal tension, resilience, fighting oppressive systems, and the feeling of freedom that come when you are finally unbound.

Some of these stories will be told photographically, some with video, some as a hybrid.

Regardless of the medium the goal is to capture people's story in a way that feels authentic to the story being told.

More stories coming soon!
